ADVOCACY PROJECTS

Cornell Prison Reform and Education Project is excited to start three new projects this semester. Learn about each initiatives below

SENTENCING ADVOCACY AND REFORM TEAM

The Sentencing Advocacy and Reform team's major goals for the year are directly lobbying and petitioning key politicians involved in capital punishment cases and raising general awareness and political agency regarding the death penalty on campus. We are hosting an upcoming Krispy Kreme fundraiser to raise money for the Innocence Project.

Please contact Cathryn Lamour (cjl288@cornell.edu) or Sammy Tadmiri (srt86@cornell.edu) with questions.

THE CORNELL UNIVERSITY PAROLE INITIATIVE (CUPI)

CUPI (formerly the Parole Preparation Project at Cornell) is an undergraduate organization whose volunteers will work in teams to prepare incarcerated individuals for their upcoming parole hearing. Responsibilities include talking with their applicant, gathering legal documents, conducting interview prep, and writing an advocacy letter. The committee is 5-10 hours a week throughout the semester.
